"Stalego pobytu" card opens to the owner all the rights and privileges available to the citizens of the republic. The only differences between residency and citizenship are the lack of an opportunity for immigrants to participate in the political life of the state and freely enter more than 180 countries of the world.

Grounds for obtaining permanent residence in Poland

According to the Aliens Act, holders of a Pole's Card - a document confirming their ethnicity belonging to the people of the country - can apply for the status.

Article 195 of the current legal act states that aliens without Polish origins can also apply for Permanent Residency, namely:
Alien applicants who have been officially residing in the Republic of Poland for a long time
  • from 4 years - with a Temporary Residence Permit given on the basis of employment in a company registered in the republic
  • from 10 years - with a residence permit given due to the lack of safe living conditions in the home state
  • from 5 years - with a Temporary Residence Permit given to a refugee or a person who needs additional protection
Aliens married to citizens or permanent residents of the state
  • officially married more than 3 years ago
  • residing continuously in the country for at least 2 years with a residence permit issued on the basis of a concluded marriage or for humanitarian reasons
Children of persons holding a "stalego pobytu" card or status of the European Union long-term resident, subject to one of the following conditions
  • the child was born or was adopted after the parents received permission to live in the republic
  • the child was born during the validity of a Temporary Residence Permit in Poland to one of the parents
Victims of human trafficking
  • who received a Temporary Residence Permit on this basis and have lived under this status in the territory of the Republic of Poland for more than 1 year
  • who cooperate with law enforcement agencies in investigative or judicial investigations
  • who have fears for their life and health upon returning to their state of permanent residence, confirmed by the Polish prosecutor's office
General requirements for applicants
  • knowledge of the national language, the Constitution, history and culture of Poland
  • opening a health insurance policy covering the costs of medical treatment in the country
  • a source of stable income sufficient to live in the state
  • lease or purchase of real estate in the territory of the state

- certificate of knowledge of the national language and the foundations of the Constitution of the state
- confirmation of belonging to the Polish people (in the case of registration by descent)
- a bank statement on the availability of a sufficient amount of funds on the account
